Facet Grade Moldavite is rare as it requires a large enough gem grade piece to facet and top quality rough specimens are almost never sacrificed for cutting. Larger faceted stones over 5+ carats are extremely rare - Moldavite is one of the rarest gems on earth - only occurring in a small section of the Czech Republic as the result of a meteor impact 15 million years ago. Faceted Moldavite is unique as you can see the small bubbles and veils within the cut stones from its formation.
