Libyan Desert Glass 33.76 g 64x30x23mm
Libyan Desert Glass is a very pure form of Silica Glass. It is the purest of the impact glasses. Found in the Deep Sahara between Eastern Libyan and Western Egypt.
The origin of desert glass is uncertain. Meteorite origins have long been considered possible, and recent research links the glass to impact features, such as Zicon Breakdown, vaporize quartz and meteoritic metals. It was used and carved as tools, and also prized as gemstones, King Tuts Scarab was carved from this amazing stone. It has been cherished for 1000s of years by humans.
Supply has dwindled the past couple years as access to these remote areas has been more restricted.
