The octahedron is one of the five Platonic Solids, defined as a convex regular polyhedron with 8 equilateral triangular faces, 6 vertices, and 12 edges. Often associated with the element "Air" by Plato, it can be visualized as two square pyramids joined at their bases. It is dual to the cube.
