Shungite is basically a very pure form of Carbon, Precambrian carbonaceous rock of organic origin, which had been found only in Russia, Karelia, Lake Onega area. Its name comes from the small village of Shunga where it was first discovered. Scientists estimate the age of shungite to be approximately 2 billion years. It is conductive & a very interesting mineral that can be used for water purification & is said to be beneficial against EMF / Radio & Cell Phone Radiation.
You may see silver streaks or chips running throughout Shungite, these are small pieces of "Petrovsky" Shungite running through the regular shungite, it is sometimes mixed.
